SIMPLE TIPS TO CARE FOR YOUR HAIR

Keeping your locks healthy is pretty simple as long as you know how. No, it doesn’t always entail regular salon visits or expensive hair care products. Maintaining your hair’s optimum health starts with you, in the comforts of your home. Here are some practical tips towards achieving lusciously beautiful hair at home.

1. Wash Hair Properly

Hair washing could easily be one of the most overlooked rituals of man. We do it practically every day, sometimes even more than once a day. But do you know that there is a correct way in washing the hair? First, wet hair thoroughly before applying shampoo and lather up from the roots to the ends, according to New York salon owner NunzioSaviano, because the hair tends to be dirtiest at the tips. Avoid using circular motions when lathering to prevent tangles. Use vertical stroking motions instead.

Conditioning the hair after shampooing is recommended, but make sure to choose a conditioner that’s suited for your hair type. Squeeze excess water out of the hair before putting in conditioner from the mid-lengths only to the ends of the hair, Saviano says. Avoid applying conditioner to your scalp because the hair’s natural oils are already concentrated there.

2. Gently dry the hair.Gently dry the hair

After getting out of the shower, wrap your hair turban-style, preferably with a light cotton fabric to minimize friction or gently pat dry with a towel; do not rub it dry. The best option though is to leave hair hanging and allow it to dry naturally.

Avoid using a blow dryer whenever you can. Frequent blow drying, especially on high heat, may damage the hair. Also avoid brushing wet hair right after showering to prevent hair strands from becoming brittle and weak. If you must, use a wide tooth comb for detangling when the hair is still wet

3. Eat rightEat right

A balanced and nutritious diet is not only for your body’s overall health but also for your hair. An adequate supply of the necessary vitamins and minerals will keep your tresses looking and feeling strong, shiny, and healthy all the time.

Vitamin A, found mostly in leafy green vegetables, is one of the most important nutrients for the hair. It fights free radicals that weaken hair strands and strengthens it in the process. The vitamin B complex, from fortified breakfast cereals, poultry, and dairy products, promotes faster hair growth and gives the hair a brilliant natural shine. A daily dose of vitamin C, on the other hand, helps in strengthening the hair strands by repairing damaged tissues and protecting the hair from free radicals. Citrus fruits are a good source of the body’s Vitamin C requirements.

4. Choose natural hair care products

Use natural hair care products like NOVUHAIR Topical Scalp Lotion to help prevent hair loss and achieve thicker, stronger and healthier hair.
